Don't spend money on trendy clothing, instead save your money for clothing that you can wear many, many times.  For example, high waisted flared jeans for night's out should probably be bought inexpensively (Forever 21, Target, Old Navy, H&M).

Get clothes that don't fit perfectly anymore altered.  Spending five dollars getting a dress turned into a skirt is a great way to transform your existant wardrobe into something new!

I also recommend spending one afternoon pulling everything you own and laying it all out across a room.  You may realize you don't even need to purchase anything new!!!  Have fun with friends or siblings making new combinations of outfits.

1. Take really good care of your clothes! Don't ruin what you've got. When you wash, be careful to use gentle cycles and don't put your delicate clothes in the dryer. This saves money because you keep what you've got looking nice longer.

2. Go to places that sell cheaper clothes! It's that simple. Discount clothing is a great thing! There are places where you can get designer clothes at half the price. Don't waste your money on one nice outfit that you wear out.

3. You'll have to get used to not wearing your best clothes all the time. You have to have outfits for different occasions. If you can get away with wearing your old jeans and a t-shirt, go for it. Nobody is going to judge you for going to the library and not looking super great. It's one thing if your going to class, or out with friends. It's still another if you're going to a job interview, work etc...

4. Find something that works for you and always looks good, but is tough, lasts, and is cheap. I try to buy plainer clothes, and buy lots accessories, that way I can change up a few outfits a lot and always look like I put lots of effort into it. Some people like to wear boots, and put the same boots on with every outfit. Others buy one or two pairs of pants and like...30 shirts. You can't have the best wardrobe ever, so make it work!
