Are most students at Montclair State University from New Jersey?

Yes, I think it's something like 90% are from New Jersey. But I'm from South Jersey which, to me, is a totally different state! I also know a few people from Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, and even California. But most commuters are from North Jersey and most residential students live further away; mainly central and southern New Jersey. 

I think it may be even closer to 95%, but like Samantha said, there are still students from places other than New Jersey. The theatre and music departments have a lot of out-of-state students, and I know of students from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii!
